MS Scanner & Camera Wizard - Puzzle ?

I have been using XP Pro SP2 for some time now without ever meeting or being aware of the MS Scanner & Camera Wizard until today when I inserted a CD onto which I had burned some digital photos and decided to clickon the resulting box which appears entitled "My Disk (Z "

Drive Z is my DVD Burner drive and I have always clicked the option appearing in this box to "Take No Further Action"

This time , however , out of curiosity , I clicked "Copy Pictures to A Folder on my Hard Drive using Ms Scanner @ Camera Wizard "

I cannot remember now whether I specified a particular destination for these photos or not but the PC began copying all the pictures from the inserted CD to somewhere on my hard drive producing a list of the resulting photo icons.

I now , having experimented with "Ms Scanner @ Camera Wizard" for the first time, wish to erase these photos from the hard drive and , in order to ascertain where they had been copied to , I right clicked on one of the icons , selected Properties and got the path as " C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\"

The trouble is there is no such Folder on my PC called "Documents" with such a Path ! yet these photos are definitely on my hard drive it would seem !

Can anyone explain this?

I have that folder. You need to go into your folder options, view tab, and enable display of hidden and system files.

I have now found these photos after following some advice in an XP NG which was to enter:-

"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents" in Start|Run.

This produced the folder "Documents" which was invisible in Windows Explorer ! - in spite of having " Show Hidden Files & Folders" checked in Tools | Folder Options | View"

I have never used Start | Run to enter paths to Folders before nor did I realise you could do this.

I have always had XP set in the "Classic" view and used only Windows Explorer to find Files and Folders.

If I use Explorer , ( with " Show Hidden Files & Folders" checked in Tools | Folder Options | View" ) and navigate to :-
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ - there is no Document Folder shown ! = hence my puzzlement.

Is it normal for this Document folder to be invisible in Explorer but only to be revealed when the path :-

"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents" is entered in the RUN box ?

Perhaps I should make some setting change to enable this path to be seen in Explorer ? - if so , I'd be grateful to know how to do this.

Is this the same as having:-" Show Hidden Files & Folders" checked in Tools | Folder Options | View or is this another setting ?

If it is another setting , then where do I find it ?

If you scroll a little further down in that window, you will see the "show protected system files" .

Send a message via Yahoo to pillainp
Open My Computer and see if there is a folder called Shared Documents. There should be a folder called Shared Pictures in there, which will contain your photos.

The actual path is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Shared Pictures. This is so that all users on that computer can share documents and pictures placed in this folder.

Ah - I see it now - it says "Hide protected operating system files(Recommended)"
