Boot to the 2000 CD and do a repair. This SHOULD add the boot menu to the 98 drive.

The 98 drive.
The PROPER way to set up a dual boot machine is to install 98, then install 2000 on the separate drive with the 98 drive still hooked up and still first in the boot order. This installs a boot menu. You will wind up with 98 on C and 2000 on D. |

Hi GLC. I've got a dual-boot machine set up just like you mentioned... '98 on C and 2000 on D drive. However the C has been formatted. How can I boot to ONLY the W2000 on the D drive?

Without reformatting the D drive, you still have to put the boot loader back on C. A repair should do this.

Well, I've begun re-installing 2000 on the C drive. At this point when I boot from the W2K disk, it'll only let me repair that volume, not the installation on D.
Is there a way to make a boot diskette that'll work? Last edited by WJWheels; 08-29-2006 at 12:32 PM. |

What do you need a boot diskette for?

I don't think a bootdisk will do anything for you that the 2K CD won't do.

Probably not. The CD will not let me get to the D drive for repair..... probably since I've already installed W2K on the C drive. I've got most of the programs I need back on already.
The problem was I ran out of space on the D for my W2K system after 6 years. When I updated Norton AV it was too much for it. Thanks for your help George. I'm not up on this stuff as much as I used to be. |
