I am getting an error "insufficient system resources" when I try to install software or update Windows. I've searched the kb, online forums (including this one), etc to try to find out what exactly are "system resources". I found lots of articles that refer to windows 95/98/2000/me, but nothing for xp.
I am running Windows XP SP2. I have 448 GB RAM (should be 512, not sure why it says 448); my paging file is set to 684 MB min and 1024 max; my hard drive is 110 GB with 48 GB free. HP Pavilion system - pretty much stock. What should I be looking at? Thanx for any and all suggestions. |

448 + 64 for the onboard video = 512 Try increasing the pagefile to something like 1024-2048.

ok. I'll do this tonight when I get home.
What are "system resources" besides memory and hard drive space? |

Thank you for the reference. I read that article, and it refers to windows 95/98. In another article (I can't remember where, I've read so many) it says that system resources changes completely in windows xp.

You have 2 threads going on this issue. Please pick one in which to continue, having parallel threads are too confusing.
