How do I remove unneeded items in my Startup list (which is accessed by running msconfig)?

If you wish to remove the unchecked items you can download a VB script from here: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm it is in line 148 right hand column.
download the script and open it when prompted, it will then prompt you to remove each unchecked item individually.

You can also use HijackThis or regedit.
