WinXP locks up during install
I am working on a.....
Dimension 4600 Intel P4 3.2 GHz BIOS A09 Seagate 160GB Ultra ATA/100 Model ST3160812A Hard Drive 512 MB DDR SDRAM 800 MHz Bus I run the OS restore CD, WinXP Home Edition, I get through the “Setup is loading files” splash screen but when I gets to the "Setup is starting windows". splash screenit locks up. I tried waiting it out but it stayed on that screen for over four hours. If I run setup from an XP upgrade CD I get the same thing. Any one have any ideas? Any help would be most greatly appreciated. |

Boot with your Dell Resource CD and run full hardware diagnostics.

It turned out to be the DVD drive. I shiuld have done a little more troubleshooting before posting here. Thanks to all thar replied.
