Have you tried booting from your Windows CD, assuming you have W2K, or XP. Then when the cd boots it will ask if you want to "install" or "recover" choose recover. I'll also assume you don't have a backup of your C: drive.
Mike also welcome to PC-Mechanic.

Thank you both for responding
If i lost my XP cd there's nothing much i can do right? I don't have any original restore discs i dont know if i lost them or they didn't come with them. I'll have to call Sony PC tech to get a replacement restore XP disc, does this mean that i will lose all my hard drive files that i have on my PC since i begun? Can anyone give me some advice ?? (By the way i left my computer all night last night and it loaded past the blank screen and somehow my desktop showed up but the start menu never populated so i could go to run>restore. is there anything i can do?) Thanks again.!! |

It's a long shot, but have you tried booting into SafeMode?
