Everytime I turn on my computer it goes through the normal mobo screens and checks the optical dirve. Then i get a screen asking me how I want to start my computer up. Normally, last time it worked, safe mode,...etc. I tried all of them and they all give me the same error message. It's a Blue Screen Of Death and I copied down EVERY last bit of it(I want to get it fixed this time):
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your harddrive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer. Technical Information *** STOP: 0X00000024 (0X001902FE,0XF176D4,0XF7A173D0,0XF73C8F81) *** Ntfs.sys-Adress F73C8F81 base at F7379000, DateStamp 41107eea" then after that I can't do anything. I can't even get into windows to try anything. I'm stumped. |

Excuse me - but the proper answer to that question is "no, I tried safe mode, same problem". We enforce respect in these forums. We also ask that you post in the correct forum, I've moved this thread for you.
Boot with the XP CD and use the repair console to run chkdsk /r. |

If chkdsk /r did not fix it, it's probably time for a XP repair reinstall. Procedures are in the tips and tricks forum in a sticky thread.

Download memtest86+ and test your ram. You can make either a boot floppy or a boot CD, get the appropriate package.
