Ok.... I am building my first computer and I am to the point where I install windows. I try to install it and I cant because there is no hard drive connected. I have put the drivers onto a floppy disk and hit F6 to use the drivr, but when I go to install it still does not detect a hard drive. Can someone explain what I am doing wrong?
P.S. IDE Scans detect the HD and I have used the installation CD to format the HD. |

You do not need a driver to install an IDE drive, and you do not need to use the installation CD. Zero fill the drive with the installation CD and start over. Verify the hard drive is on the primary IDE connector with an 80 wire cable properly connected, drive on master end, and drive jumpered to Cable Select.

Should I do a Full Zero Fill? Or quick? Also how long does a zero fill take...... seems like the full one has been on the screen at 0% for 3 minutes

Quick should be good enough. A full can take several hours.
