Trouble reformatting with XP disc

So I booted my comp with the XP professional disc, deleted my old partition and created a new one formatting it with NTFS, after that I was promped to reboot. After the reboot, the windows installation process was being loaded... and after all the necessary files were loaded I came upon the Windows XP Professional setup screen that displayed:

"The setup could not read the CD you inserted, or the CD is not a valid windows CD.

Please insert your Windows NT 3.51 workstation, Windows NT 4.0 workstation, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Millenium CD into your CD-ROM drive.

When the CD is in the drive, press ENTER

To quit Setup, press F3"

Am I not suppose to use the Windows XP Professional disc at this point? Because I keep taking it in and out of the CD-ROM drive and it won't read it, now my computer is stuck like this until I get passed this problem. Thx in advanced.

You were using a XP "upgrade" CD, right?
