Windows XP freezing up

Recently I built my own computer and everything went pretty well until the day after I installed windows xp and began to use my computer. Once or twice a day my computer will completely lock up. Sometimes it will restart itself and sometimes I have to restart it myself. One of the times when this happened it said it had a driver issue. What do you guys reccomend I do?

Full system specs including brand and wattage of the power supply, please. Update the drivers for all your components.

Fortron source 450 watt psu
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache

I downloaded all of my drives only a few days ago, I doubt there would be any new updates out yet.

Is that ram on the motherboard manufacturer's tested and approved list? The AM2 architecture has an incredibly fussy memory controller.

Perhaps you need an older driver for something - I'd suspect the ATI video drivers first.

Mobo manual says: Registered DIMM and Non ECC DIMM not supported.
G. Skill ram's error checking is Non ECC

The AM2 platform is very picky about the exact sticks of ram you use, right down to specific models and brands.

Biostar's website does not mention G.SKILL as a compatible ram manufacturer: http://www.biostar-usa.com/compatibleram.asp

I would look into purchasing some new ram. Many of the reviews on Newegg mention good luck with OCZ brand DDR2-800.

I bought and installed this ram, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227089 from Newegg and now after I play WoW for half an hour or so I get an error saying
"This application has encountered a critical error:

ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal Exception
Program: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe
Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 001B:007BC1F7

The instruction at "0x007BC1F7" referenced memory at "0xB26EF4FA".
The memory could not be "read"."

Is this the new RAM or just World of Warcraft?

Well I don't get that error anymore. I'm back to the good ol' freeze restart thing. I think I should've went with something biostar said was compatible instead of the reviews I've seen and the things I've heard >.<
Oh, and if it means anything, the system fan is running at 0 RPM. (cpu fan is fine and the other, nb I believe, is fine also.)

The OCZ ram's specifications says 2.1 volts but it is running at 1.95 volts. When I changed it to 2.1 volts I lost the use of my wireless network adapter.

So the CPU fan is not spinning at all? That is a serious problem, and would definatly account for the freezing/lockups. The mobo probably has built in failsafes to protect your cpu from overheating. If the fan on the cpu cooler isn't spinning (I wouldn't trust mobo's reading, open up the case and make sure its moving) I'd strongly suggest replacing the fan.

Try measuring your CPU and system temp if you can, go in to BIOS and check them after restart happens give it five or 10 minutes more in BIOS to see what is happening with CPU temp!
Or use http://www.lavalys.com/ one of this in windows to read your system and CPU temp!

It looks as though all of them are spinning
I doubt that the problem is the fans because I haven't had any heat issues when looking at the temperatures.
The whole fan not spinning thing may just be a display mess up.

It most likely assumes you have a fan connected to one of the motherboard headers, since you dont, it assumes the fan is not running...though its not even there.

Then get that ram out of there and get some ram that will run at 1.8 volts, which is DDR2 standard.
