Hi there,
I have a HP laptop thats knackered. The laptop won't into Windows.. When the Windows XP loading bar comes up I get a quick flash of the blue screen of death and then the laptop reboots itself. This continues to happen over and over. Safe Mode won't work either, I get an error saying that the laptop can't use safemode. I've tried reparing the installation twice and still no joy. Is there anything I can do to save it. If I have to reformat is there any way to save the data on the hard drive as this is essential? Thanks very much |

If you have access to a tower computer you can use one of these http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=HD-108&cpc=SCH to adapt the laptop harddrive so that you can slave it in to the tower. If the harddrive is accessible you will be able to save the data to the tower harddrive and also run diagnostics on the laptop harddrive.

You could try and take out hdd and connect it to a desktop computer and save important data!

If it has SP2, bring up the boot menu and disable restart on error - then read the bluescreen when it appears.
