Pc Rebooting, serious error. No sound either

I am having problems with my pc. I am running windows XP with service pack 2. My pc keeps rebooting for no reason and when it logs back on it says this pc has just recovered from a serious error. The technical error message i get is this

" C:\DOCUME~1\Sharon\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER3290.dir00\Mini083006-02.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Sharon\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER3290.dir00\sysdata.xml"

I have tried looking for this file but it doesnt exist according to my pc. I have done a search for it and this is what it says about it

"C:\DOCUME~1\Sharon\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER3290.dir00 refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location."

I am also having problems with my sound which was working perfectly ok yesterday. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and rebooting but this doesnt solve the problem. I have run my anti virus to see if i had any viruses and it found none so i am very confused as to why my pc is doing this. Can anyone tell me what the problem is before i end up throwning my pc out of the window? Can someone tell me how to resolve this without having to format my pc again, i had this problem before and i formated it and the problem went away for a while but now its back.

When XP encounters a serious error it is set to reboot the PC.

To see the error message you will need to turn this option off.

Goto:

Clicking Start>Control Panel>System.

Click the Advanced tab.

Click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery.

Remove the tick from the box next to Automatically Restart under System Failure.

Click OK.

This will give you an error next time the system encounters the problem, post it here and I am sure someone will be able to help.

Hope that helps

Both of the files that are causing the errors are Temp files that do not need to remain on your system anyway.

I suggest you download ccleaner and run both the cleanup and the registry cleaner. If this doesn't fix the problem it will certainly do you PC some good

I ran the registry cleaner and it found 63 errors but it would only fix 13 of them. I have to buy the product for it to fix the others so this didnt really help much. I want my sound to work again, could it be that i need a new sound card??

Use ccleaner. There's no need to use a commercial registry cleaner.
