problem when converting from FAT32 to NTFS
Hello,
I was siting at my cousins computer and I was converting a partition from FAT32 to NTFS, He has winxp installed in C:,when I used the conversion command "Convert X: /fs:ntfs" to convert the partition E: where some data was stored. It didnot work , I checked the partition regularly but it was still FAT32. Before converting the partition , I moved the data from E: to another partition and when I looked at the bottom left of the window of E:, it didnot show it as empty drive but instead it showed that some space if this drive is still occupied. I donot understand why isn't it showing as completely empty instead of knowing that I have moved the data from E: to another partition? Is this conversion command not working because of this problem? |

Do a full chkdsk with sector check on the drive:
chkdsk e: /f /x /r |

Did you use the invalid drive letter X in you command or E?
Is the drive now NTFS or FAT32? By default, Windows uses 10% for the recycle bin...

If you didn't have show hiden files enabled, you left files like thumbnails and others on that E: partition when you moved the files off of it.
