I have an internal zoom cable modem model 5001, working on an op system windows 98. the modem works on an off. Is very slow and at times I loose my connection and come up with error messages instead. I do not know if there could be a problem with the modem itself or with Windows 98? I am looking for answers
by the way I have a I-built it myself computer,(over 4 years plus amd k-500 processor, socket ) 7. thanks. also how do I get rid of pop ups from old share ware tools that I down loaded months ago, could this be a problem too? |

You say the OS is Windows 98, what antivirus and malware scanners do you have installed?

Yes, wtlifterII. There are a variety of freeware (or free enough) anti-whatever tools to help you clean your computer up.
I recommend: 1. Ad-Aware SE 1.06 2. AVG 7.1 Antivirus 3. Ewido Anti-Spyware Scanner (Optional) They are all free, and can help you clean your computer up. If that does not clear up the modem issues, then there is most likely another problem with the modem itself. Consider buying another one, or contact your ISP if that is where you got the modem from in the first place. |
