Disable folder size on mouse-over?
Problem: On a WindowsXP Professional build, I have an external hard drive with a ton of data in it. One master folder has over 300,000 files (divided into a multitude of subfolders). The thing is this: Every time I so much as touch the master folder with my pointer, the HDD starts churning and that explorer window locks up while it seems to calculate the contents.
On smaller folder it's super-fast. On large, humongeous folders with huge datasets, it could take up to 2 mins before control returns and I can access that folder. So.... Is there a way to disable that? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! -Brenten WinXP Pro Pent4 3.0GHZ 800FSB 1GIG Memory |

1) Open an explorer window
2) Tools menu > Folder Options > View tab 3) Uncheck "Display file size information in folder tips" HTH |

Josh, please don't make posts like that in the help forums - if you want to comment on stuff like that please keep it in General Discussion where it's a lot less formal. All you are doing is cluttering up threads. Thank you.
