Unhappy Xp Fax

Hi, Sometime ago I enabled the fax in windows XP, it was quite nice being abile to send faxes from my pc but now I need not to. What can I do to disenable it, it is now a pain in the back side when my phone rings my fax would kick in. Is there any way to stop it without wiping out my hard drive. Thanks Guy. Oby

KTK: Incorrect, it's a service, not a startup item.
J1978: That does work, but it's not necessary.

Programs, accessories, communications, fax, fax service management.

Devices, double click on your modem. General tab, uncheck the box for "enable receive". This will still allow you to send at any time but it won't bother you.
