Windows updates...really necesary??

i just made a winxp fresh install due to slowness and crashes on xp after installing some antimalware and update from widows updater... should i use updtes?? do they slow down the system?

Well its always good to install them. Some are critical to the system and offer more stability and protection.

MS is constantly working to patch security holes and performance issues with any Windows operating system. I highly recommend keeping your computer fully updated. Running the updates manually from the WU site allows you to add additional software items that you might miss if you only install the Critical Updates. I prefer to set the WU notiifcation to notfiy me that they are available and I will pick when to download. I set it to automatically update the pc's of my not-so-pc-savy customers.

If you don't like windows update, you can always give autopatcher a try
