Looking for a forced shutdown program for Win98

Have this old HP Win98 machine that doesn't shut off after clicking the Start/Turn of Computer button. Just goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. I seem to recall there was a patch of something for this problem. Anyway, does anyone know of a good forced shutdown program that would do the job? Thanks.

Send a message via AIM to Panama Red
Just go to Windows Update and run all the updates for 98. (Hopefully you're using SE) The shutdown problem was corrected with updates.

Some were corrected. But some that were corrected come back weeks later.

Try a new icon on the desktop. program=
drive:\windows\rundll.exe user exitwindows

start in drive:\windows

Or make a batch file to shutdown:

1) Open Notepad
2) Type: shutdown /s /f
3) Save as a .bat instead of a .txt

You now have a program that will shutdown your computer.
