This is a tough one
Right guys, I have being plagued by this problem for about a year now and it had forced me to reinstall my operating system about 5 times now.
In a nutshell my computer just stops and reboots itself like someone has just turned the power off at the switch. It is something to do with a device driver but Microsoft hasn’t got a clue and to be fare I haven’t. It has being running fine for the past 6 months and now it had started up again in the past few days. After about 7 or of theses shut downs the master boot becomes corrupted and then I have to reinstall everything. I have only installed photo shop cs recently as well, and I am running windows xp. I hope someone can help, please if you need to know more information just ask. Thanks, Caine |

Is this your main computer?
Can you give us a full list of all the hardware installed?

What brand/capacity/model powersupply do you have?
Did you build this computer yourself? Are the temperatures okay? |

????
Hi, well I bought the computer a while back, and since then, changed the ram / motherboard / soundcard / added a dvd writer
Err am not sure of the power supply but you can guarantee that I wont be a good one. Also sometimes the fan in my computer goes round very fast making a lot of noise so I have made sure I keep background processes to a minimum. It could be overheating, am not sure. Does anybody now thw best software arround to monitor the CPU temp? and i can let you guys know the temp Hope this helps, Caine Last edited by brown29; 09-19-2006 at 04:07 PM. |

If you have a crappy PSU, then that could be causing the problems. So could overheating. If it is overheating, try improving case ventilation or running with the case open to see if that makes a difference. If is is the power supply, you will need a new one.

Never trust a PSU that has no brand. If you take it out of the case fully, there may be a sticker on the other side of it, but regardless, I wouldn't trust that PSU.

You have that thing overclocked 5%. Put the CPU back to stock speed.
