Why did you reinstall messenger?

I'm assuming the tripple post was an accident and non-intentional.

Firstly, what are the specs of the machine in question? Have you made any recent hardware or driver changes?

I would be supprised if a reinstall of MSN could have such a large impact upon your system!

When the machine "reboots / shutdown" what is actually happening? Is the machine going through the restart / shutdown procedure or is it a sudden power off?

A little more detail and we can help further

Is this triple post anything to do with your problems? are you getting popups? has your home page been changed?
Where did you download messenger from? I tried to download the new live version a few days ago and on install I had the "this program has not been digitaly signed by Microsoft" message, how can that be? I downloaded it from Microsoft

I used there help page to no-avail but could access messenger in another account ? I have mail them from that account..When my PC reboots it just restarts my coulered fan dont even go off it just reboots Then the message your system as recovered from a serious error and had to close ...something to do with a driver but everything was runnin A ok till msn repair this morning as i hav`nt installed any new drivers, I have tried safe mode and that wont even let me restore I`m a bit of a newbie so i probely not giving you guys enough to go on (sorry)

My specs are 2.8 Ghz pent 4, 2Gb corsair ram matching 3200 4x 512 at dual channel, GeForce FX5500, and a 80 Gb HDD (Maxtor)

...so does the computer say "Shutting Down..." or does is just power off then come back on? Sorry, I'm still not clear on that.

Are/were you using a webcam with MSN...maybe this could be the driver that is causing the issues?!?!

To me this situation sounds a lot more like a hardware or driver fault than a problem with MSN.

Have you tried to remove MSN and done a scan for virus's etc then reinstalled MSN?

Control panel, system, advanced, startup and shutdown - uncheck the box for restart on error. Next time it should bluescreen, read the bluescreen and research the error message.
