group policy for passwords
I've never set up a server myself, and our newest server was set up to force password changes every 6 weeks, which was inconvenient because we have many MCE computers that didn't allowe you to change passwords for the domain.
So, I decided to try setting a group policy to change this (I've never done a group policy before, either). Some changes seem to have taken effect, but others haven't. For example, when I try to change a password on a workstation now, it tells me that I can't use any of my previous 24 passwords, even though I had changed the 'Enforce Password History' to 1 (as well as trying it at the Not Defined setting) The Minimum Password Age was set for 0 days, but when I try to change my password again on a workstation, it tells me that I can't change a password for at least one day. Not a big deal, but it doesn't seem like what the settings should be doing. I changed the password LENGTH, and that IS working. So, now I'm wondering if the Maximum password age is really going to work (I changed it to 365 days). Why might the minimum age and password history not be changing? |

Password history will work ONLY if the minimum age is greater than 0.
