Bios problem

Hi there,

I have a P4 3.00Ghz, 1GB ram desktop PC thats acting strangely.

Firstly, it pauses for a very long time while it detects the IDE devices on bootup. The devices it does detect are the two DVD drives that are installed. However, in the BIOS it doesn't detect these DVD drives. The only device it detects is the hard drive.
The PC also runs slow generally, especially for the spec of the machine. Theres not much installed on it.

I have updated the BIOS (Asus P5GD1-VM) but i am clueless as to what to do next.

Thanks

List all IDE devices along with exactly how they are cabled and jumpered. List all SATA devices.
