Question windows xp

hi everyone, i will be doing my first build shortly and have a question about windows xp home.when i bought a computer system i got the xp disc with it. i upgraded the h/d and reloaded windows and went through the verification process, my question is in my new build can i use my orriginal disc to load xp on the new one or am i breaking the rules (microsofts), i"m a poor aussie and they wear big boots . any replys would be great. ps i"m left handed and born on christmas day that my excuse anyway

If that new build is the only machine you will be running that copy of XP on, then you should be fine.

That assumes it's a standard OEM copy of XP that's not locked to that machine's bios - and that's not even guaranteed with the new Microsoft EULA. If it's a recovery CD, it definitely cannot be used.

Thanks For The Replys . My Original Computer Is Just A No Name Brand Put Together At A Local Computer Shop. Might Be Easier To Buy New Version.

No your copy of XP sounds like a regular OEM version, so it would be fine to use on your new PC, as long as thats the only 1 PC your using that copy on. Why spend more money, especially to M$.

I believe the EULA was changed about a year or so ago - if your copy of XP is older than that, it will activate on the new machine with no problems as long as the last time you reactivated it was more than 120 days ago.
