OK,
this is driving me nuts.... Lets start with the PC specs... Dell Optiplex GX620, P4 3.20GHz, 1.0GB (2-512 DDR2 Chips), 80G HD, AVG7 and McAfee running in background, new 8 months ago. Problem, IT TAKES FREAKIN' FOREVER for Windows Explore to show files and this is WITHOUT any applications running. Yes Folder Options is set for view all files and show hidden files. For example take any directory w/ 100+ files within, it will take about 45-60 seconds before the files will show in the file window when browsing in Windows Explore and its not limited to Windows Explore either, if I am attaching a file to email, browsing for the files takes just as long. Anytime I change folders, it momentarally locks the system until the files are displayed, then I can change folders again. In viewing Windows Task Manager, the CPU usage is at 5%, the PF usage has never exceeded 30-40%. Is there something that can tell me exactly wahts happening on my system during this timeframe. Ideas.. BV |

you should not be running 2 antivirus programs simultaneously, this might be the cause of your problem, both antivirus programs running at the same time are crippling your system. Choose one antivirus program you want to use and then uninstall the other, see if that speeds things up for you.
