My memory usage seems huge!
Pentium 4, 80G HD (60+ available), 1G RAM, XP Home. Programs running: ewido, NOD32, Spy Sweeper, ZoneAlarm Pro, PopTray and Weather Pulse. After reboot, processes are reasonable for 20 minutes or so e.g. explorer.exe around 17K, ewido 7K. Then they go off the charts: explorer 60+K, ewido 70K, Weather Pulse from 9K to 50K. I have excellent malware protection and have scanned with all my apps and no malware is ever detected. I thought it might happen after I opened browsers, however, I proved that theory was incorrect by monitoring after a reboot and the memory usage went up before opening any! Any theories what is causing these memory leaks? Thank You!

What does it show you in task manager processes tab. Just watch that for a bit and that should show you what process is doing it.

Is this memory usage causing problems? It's quite normal for processes to use memory.

No problems, everything functions normally. It is just that when I view my processes at work (Windows 2000, and admittedly not as many apps open) they are using far less memory. Thank You!

Windows does a pretty good job of adjusting ram usage dependent on the amount of physical ram installed. I'm betting your work computer has a lot less ram than your home machine and it's just using the pagefile more.

Far, far less, in fact I'm getting a new work pc. Perhaps my apps need all this ram and I should quit worrying about it!

They don't NEED all that ram, but it's there so it's USING it for better performance. If you put 2 gigs in there I bet they eat even more then they do now!
