Please copy and paste or type in the pertinent specs - I removed the Photobucket image as it's not responding. Brand and model of the laptop is important, followed by processor and amount of ram. Other specs are not important.

What are you comparing the laptop to that it's not meeting your expectations? What are you using the laptop for? Gaming? Downloading large files? Video Editing?

a little gaming nothing major and internet use, the laptop itself is fine, its the boot that kills me... the windows screen with the blue lines going accross goes by 16 to 17 times sometimes up to 20.. and i figured something with the specs that this has shouldnt be that slow considering at work i use older laptops that seem to boot a lot faster, i have no spyware, i think 3 programs starting with windows so im at a loss.. i just dont get why it takes so long to boot past that windows screen

Start->Run and type: MSCONFIG
Look in the startup tab and see if there is something you can disable.

Agree, especially on a new Dell. And use the link below to determine what startup items you need to keep and which you can turn off.

I highly recommend dumping the Dell supplied Antivirus too and replacing it with AVG Free. Symantec/Norton will definitely slow things down and PCCillin is a trial version that you'll soon have to pay for to keep active.

Startups, etc. are a lot less suspect. If all it's doing is taking a while to boot but it runs fine, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. If you want a faster boot, hibernate it instead of doing a full shutdown.
