xp install on second drive

Hi- My hard drive crashed, and i have installed xp on another drive to start over again. My question is will microsoft let me do this with my copy of xp. Will they allow the new activation? I don't know what their rules are. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance- Chas

Yes - they will allow it.

Basically you own a single licence for the use of the software. This means you can have the software installed and working on one system only.

If you install the software onto the new drive then you shouldl be able to simply click activate. However, if the software has been installed a number of times (and uninstalled), you may need to telephone Microsoft for them to let you activate it again, which is fine providing you are not using the OS on another system.

Should work. Try to activate it online first. If that won't work, follow the on screen instructions to call MS. Just explain the hdd replacement and they should provide a new activation number.
