Big Time Trouble with Windows root
When i boot the windows installed on C:/ my PC tries to get the files
from E:/! How can i change the windows root/the path windows uses to boot? here's the exact thing: A few days ago i decided to reinstall windows on drive D. i already had an installation there just for playing games, and the windows used for work was on drive C. So, i choose to setup the new Windows at the same location on D as the previous installation (i didnt mind everything deleting). During the 1st part of installation (the one not in graphical environment) i get messages4files not able to be read from the disc. Once everything's over (the new installation on D works fine) i find out that windows on C wont boot because of files missing! After a while i discover that restoring the files at C:/WINDOWS doesnt do a thing, but if i restored the file at E:/WINDOWS -a path that did not exist at first, as there wan no OS on E (C&E is the same HD, split in two) does the trick! So, i copy everything from D:/WINDOWS on C:/WINDOWS (i know its not very smart) and there's no message telling there are files missing. However, when i boot windows on C the blue screen with the windows logo appears, and it does not get to the point where i connect to my user account. SO, my problem is that the windows installed on C boots from E! Can i change that without having to install a new OS from the beginning? |
