I have some questions about my dell computer
I have a question about my dell computer ,I am in Asia and sometimes the light goes out in my region(load sheding) due to power failure. I have noticed one thing that when I am working on my Dell PC and when light goes out, the system is off, but when the light returns, I have seen that my system doesnot start as it should but is automatically in a shut down state.
I wanted to know that is it happening because my motherboad is a ACPI based motherboard? |

there should be an option in your bios to return the pc to its last state, so if the power goes out and your pc shuts, off, when the power comes back on your pc should start back up.
another idea would be to get a UPS and plug your computer into it so when the power does go out, the battery backup will kick and you computer will continue to run until your power in the house comes back. also this will help prevent your pc hard drive from becoming corrupted because of improper shutdown......

It's a lot safer leaving it the way it is and manually restarting it.

Thanks GLC, this is something that I wanted to know, it should be left in the same position.
Actually When power failure occurse, the computer is off as obvious but when light comes back, I have to boot the Computer not restart because it is in a shut down state when light returns. I think the motherboard has an emergency shut down feature that shuts down computer automatically upon power failure. |

Of course it shuts down when there's a power failure!
