problems with recent xp install

Hi- I just recently installed xp on a new h drive, and i'm getting messages telling me i'm running out of disk space. My first thought is that i didn't partition the drive correctly, allowing enough room for windows. I used ntfs format. Should i have used FAT32 and that would have given me larger partitons? If so do i have to re-format and partion the drive, and re-install xp? The other issue is the display resolution. I can't get the display to work any higher than 640x480. I have tried different drivers for the adaptor plus the monitor with no luck. Any thoughts on these issues? Thanks in advance

What size is your HD and how big a partition did you set up. XP needs lots of room. If you havn't installed your programs yet,you can re-install and delete the active partition and re-partition to a larger one. I like to have at least 25gb for XP and the programs and the rest for storage of files. NTFS is the best way to go.

The drive is 30gb. Can i use the whole drive as a partition? Some reason it would only allow 2 gb on the c: parttion.

Yes,with only a 30 gb drive I would make it all one partition.
As far as your screen resolution you need the drivers for your video card. If it's on-board video they should be on the mother board CD.

I installed the drivers from the cd, and still could not get the resolution to go to 800x640. I have tried everything i can think of, with no results. Any more thoughts?

If it was only allowing a 2gb partition, it sounds like you are using FDISK and FAT16 to partition the drive.
