Unhappy Windows XP new PC install questions

I have just finished putting together my new PC...ASUS motherboard and AMD 64FX processor. 4gig of 800mhz RAM and two Seagate 250Gb SATA Hard drives. see my posts in PC Build your Own for more details, however i have a question about loading Windows XP...

I achieved a Bios screen, left most of the settings at default and then tried to install Windows XP. It gets through the whole file loading part and then stops at "Setup is starting Windows" and never finishies. I have not RAIDed my drives yet, but i probably will...i know i was being a bit impatient but it was late and i was feeling hopeful...

My belief is that I need to load my ASUS SCSI/RAID drivers during the Windows setup (F6) but since i didnt have an available floppy or USB stick i tried to skip that...does that sound correct?? My guess is without those drivers, windows setup is not seeing the drives properly and cant finish the install...

I purchased a new USB stick today and should be able to put the drivers on that, and then load them during windows setup. Ill try again tonight when i get home from work...

All your help is greatly appreciated.

Windows XP can't handle 4 gig of ram - might take half of it out...

You shouldn't need the F6 drivers if you're only using one drive..

Probably can't use the usb device anyway....
