Locked out of my own files in XP
Here's the situation: the motherboard on my desktop croaked, and I've had to RMA it. In the meantime, I am using my laptop as my main computer. I've pulled the main hard drive from my desktop and placed it in an external enclosure so I can access my files while my desktop is inactive, but I've run into a problem. When I try to access My Documents on the external drive, it tells me that access is denied, presumably because I am not logged into the OS on the drive and it cannot recognize me. I've tried booting off of the external drive, but that didn't work. My laptop is running XP Home and the desktop was running XP Pro. Is there any way for me to get access to my files?
