IMAP downloading
I am thinking of changing from POP to IMAP and I know the main differences are that IMAP holds the email on the server and POP downloads from the server. What I am unsure of is will I be able to access my emails offline with IMAP as well or can I only read them when I am online. I ask this as I may not always have a web connection with my laptop but may want to look at previous emails at so my real question is does IMAP allow you download messages to your own PC?

It depends on who the IMAP provider is. Hotmail for example use to let you setup an account in OE. Then they converted this process to a "pay for" service.
