Question About Windows XP Product Key Code

Sorry If I might have asked this question elsewhere before!I have a Compaq EVO N115 laptop that had the XP Pro product key code scraped off when I bought it,and would like to know where I can get a new one,or find out what it might have been?I bought the restore disks, and have all the rest of the numbers from the machine. The hard drive doesn't have anything on it right now, otherwise I might have gotten the key off there somehow.Would either Compaq,or Microsoft know what the code is,or sell me another one?Any help is greatly appreciated.Thank You very much!

Simply put, you need to purchase another XP cd & keycode.

http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml - would have been the solution had you not formatted the drive.

Since there is nothing on the drive your only option is as EzyStvy says and buy a new one.

Unfortunately, removing that sticker is just like setting a match to a $100 bill. You did not buy a license when you bought the restore disks. You can buy a new license from Microsoft, but it's more expensive than buying a full OEM copy of XP from an online vendor.

There is a good chance that your restore disks won't even install with a generic keycode.
