Registry problem

When I add a new key to registry, it is deleted when I reboot.

What is causing that?

Thanks

You are either not doing it right or Windows is overwritting it.

Will probably help if you mention what you're trying to add.

Well normally I just press on any file that is going to be put in registry, and it automatically asks me if I want to do that. I say yes and it's done.

This file does not, instead it pops up as a text file showing me all the info.So I manually select import and insert it into registry. After boot up it's gone........

Does that help?

Its very possible there is a setting in Windows that is over riding the value you're putting in.

What's this thing suppost to do once you get it in?

What's the extension on this file? If it's not a .reg file meant for XP, it ain't gonna work.
