XP Pro backup?

Hello. I currently have Windows XP Pro on my computer and would like to install a new HDD. I would like to install a clean version of Windows XP Pro on the new HDD but I have lost/misplaced my Windows XP Pro disk. Is my only option to copy everything from my old HDD to the new one and then delete all the unwanted files?

Without your install CD, just clone the old drive to the new one with the hard drive manufacturer's setup utility. Clean installs require a CD and product key, no way around that.

Not to hijack the thread, but since you mentioned the HD's mfg utilities, G, do you know if the Seagate Tools can clone my XP install from this current hard drive to another Seagate HD? Or will I need a third party program in order to do things right? I don't want to go through all the fuss of installing XP and all my programs again. TIA

You use the cloning tool from the manufacturer of the target drive. If you buy a Seagate drive, you use Disc Wizard.
