windows xp .dll errors. help plz!

Hi,
I built a new computer about 6 months ago. I've never had any problems, then yesterday I boot up and after windows xp launchs a bunch of .dll errors occur and it reboots ad nauseam. There are other errors too, but they are stacked on top of each other and it all happens so fast I can't read them all.

So, I put in my windows xp disk to use Recovery Console, and this is what happens.

1. Which windows installation would you like to log onto: I only have one so I select.
2. Type the Administrator password: so I do.
3. C:\WINDOWS> (it sits on this prompt and does nothing).

I really need some help!! Thanks.

Okay at the windows prompt I typed: fixmbr

It then told me my mbr was non-standard or invald. And could damage and make inaccessible etc, etc, etc,

Is this a really bad idea?

It's a bad idea unless you have a specific reason to run that specific command. You need to do some further investigation on these problems. Will it boot into safe mode with no errors? If so, you probably got hit with a massive malware attack.

It won't boot in safe mode. And now the message has changed to:
A problem is preventing Windows from accrately checking the license for this computer. Error Code: 0x800703e6.

When I click okay it goes back to the log in screen. It seems like everytime I boot I get a different error. And sometimes it won't boot at all.

Run diagnostics on the ram with memtest86+ (www.memtest.org) and SeaTools hard drive diags from Seagate to see if there's a hardware issue. If they come up clean, do a windows repair reinstall, procedures in Tips and Tricks.

I'm sorry if this is a really silly question, but the memtest86+ has been going for 20 hours. Am I doing something wrong. Does this test ever end?

It runs till you stop it - a few passes should be plenty. Look at the pass counter.

Okay, so I ran the memtest and the bottom part of the sreen was all red and under failing address there were a bunch of scrolling numbers. Now I'm new to this but it seems bad. And there were 100,000s +++ of errors. Does this mean I need new memory? Also, it says ECC: Disabled. Is that set wrong?

That means one or both of your memory modules is defective. You have a dual channel kit, so you have to RMA both modules. Contact Corsair for warranty service.
