Installation Problem is PC specific
Hi All,
Sorry, but I had no idea in which thread to place this installation question. I have a problem installing Paint Shop Pro Studio on one of my two PCs. It installs on the Sony, but hangs on the HP. The Sony is 2.8 Hyper-Threading; the HP is 2.2 Dual Core. There is adequate storage available on both C and E drives. The drives are mixed, C&D are partitioned in one SATA, and E is PATA. I’ve tried installing on different drives with no success. Here are the relevant specs. Sony PCV-RS 430G Windows XP Home Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 2.80C GHz† with Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology 512MB PC-2700 333MHz DDR ATI Radeon™ 9200 128MB Video Memory (128-bit DDR) 120GB††3 7200rpm Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive HPA1540N Windows XP Pro AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core processor 4200, 2.2GHz 2048MB PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM memory (2x1GB for ultimate performance) Integrated NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE Graphics with TurboCache supporting up to 256MB shared video memory C-Drive 250GB 7200 SATA hard drive E-Drive 160GB ATA hard drive |

No error codes are displayed. It just freezes at the same point in the process each time.

Close down all nonessential background processes, especially virus scanners.

I accessed the Win Task Mgr, and found neither the Applications nor Processes tabs indicated that other programs were running. Processes indicated System Idle at 99.

how many processes do you have running? can you give us a screenshot of your task manager processes tab?
thats normal for your system idle tab to be at 99 In computing, The System Idle Process is a process in the Microsoft Windows operating system that displays, as a percentage, how much CPU resources are "idle" and available for use at any given time. The name of this "process" may be a misnomer, however, as the System Idle Process is more of a counter and less of a process that actually uses the resource percentage that it displays. |
