Service Pack uninstall files

Is there any reason to keep the service pack uninstall files on the computer? I'm pretty sure that's what the $NtUninstallKB896688$ and similar named files are. There get to be so many of them. They don't seem to take up a lot of space though.

If you're certain that you'll never need to unistall a MS Update, then they are safe to delete.

I was thinking if they are a year old or more, I wouldn't know what they were uninstalling anyway. If Windows has worked this long I can't see I would need them.

Thanks

This is meant for Windows 2000, but the same basic thing applies for XP:
