Recovery XP E Machine

Hi, thanks for having me on this forum, I wonder if anyone can help me. I've got a E Machine PC about 4 years old. Recently, I had to put the recovery discs in for the first time to restore the system, it's XP. I also put SP2 on from a disc. Everthing worked fine, but after turning the PC off, I found the next time I used it I could not connect to the web. I tried several times over next few days with no success. So I repeated the process this time without loading SP2. But the result was the same.
I've got a restore disc from a defunct E Machine with ME, I restored The PC with this and it works fine. But I really want XP.

Any help would be appreciated.

you need to install xp drivers for your machines network card along with any other device that needs drivers ie. chipset, audio, video, etc.

right click my computer go to manage then go to device manager and look for anything in there that has a yellow exclamation point. chances are it will say ethernet controller. now u need to do this after you install xp but before you go running off to install xp, you need to go to emachines website and see if there are drivers there for all your devices, if so download them while you still have ME installed then either save them to a flash drive, external hard drive or burn them to a disc, then install xp, after installing xp, locate the xp drivers and install them.

Thanks
I don't think the problem is with the drivers. After reinstalling XP from the E Machine discs I was able to connect to the web, it was later it came up with page not available. It's like it thinks I've got an illegal copy of XP, but it's the one that came with the PC.
