Slow Log-in Windows XP Pro

We have been noticing that certain users on our network take a long time -- sometimes as much as several minutes -- to log in to Windows on their own PCs. It only happens with a couple of users but it is frustrating for those users. And we've noticed that if you log in using a different username there is no delay. Is there any reason why a user's log-in would suddently start to take a long time like this? (It hasn't always been this way for any of the people who are now experiencing this problem.)

Profiles can get corrupted.

The number of printers and mapped drives tied to a profile can slow things down.

i had a similar problems with certain users on certain machines. only for specific users on these machines would it take forever. i manually changed the primary dns to point to the domain server and that seemed to alleviate the problem.

MS Knowledgebase has many articles on the subject.
Basically you just create a new one and copy old files to it.

These are local profiles.

Note: I tried changing the DNS address to the local server's ip address and that seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks!
