IE 7.0 for Windows XP?

My computer keeps asking me to download the Windows Internet Explorer 7.0, and I would like to know your opinions on whether it really is worthwhile?
I currently have version 6.0.2900.2180 SP2, which works just fine. Would I find that version 7.0 would be worthwhile, or am I better leaving the current version as it is?

Thanks!

Dale

benefits of IE7 include:

* New streamlined and less cluttered look
* Streamlined controls
* Tabbed browsing
* Instant search
* Advanced printing
* Favorites center
* Phishing filter
* Delete browsing history

To read about all of IE7's benefits and features, go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...t/default.mspx.

personally i dont use IE6 or 7 to often to wage in on if you should switch. i use firefox 2.0 and really enjoy it with its tabbed browsing and addons/extensions you can add to it.

Switch

I switched, I read from several reviews that IE7 is safer, since windows XP is very much a part of IE... I strongly suggest upgrading to IE7, however I would use Firefox or Mozilla as a primary browser. Oh and a good firewall!

Thanks so far folks! I too use Firefox as my main browser, but also have IE which I use on occassion, thus my questions. If the download makes it a safer browser, these days we all need that additional safety in spades, so I'll take the time to do the download then.

Has anyone come up with "negatives" when comparing past IE version to version 7.0?

Thanks...

Dale

I'd wait a while. Give it a little time for the bugs to surface.

I find IE 7 a plus. like the looks, and added features. I didn't find it slowing anything down. Only glitch I found was in keeping cookies while running CCleaner. A simple "uncheck" in the CCleaner settings was all that was needed. The Delete index .dat files to be exact.

For the most part, after using IE 7 for a week, I think it is a good product. Been using Firefox for the last year and I'll probably make a decision after using IE 7 for a few more weeks. It is actually a coin flip as to which one is the best.

I have noticed no significant difference in speed. I am running a 4600+ AMD and that may account for not noticing any difference. ???

Check: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/aa740486.aspx for possible causes.

Did for me , but if you want to make sure, then go into my computer , local disk, docs and settings, your folder, and copy the favourites folder, and paste it somewhere safe . Update internet explorer, then if your favourites are not there ,then just copy and paste the favourites folder back in.
