Sounds like something got corrupted along the lines somewhere. Your sure you erased all the temp internet files and have all the updates for IE6?

Might try the Add/Remove Windows components from the add/remove dialog box and uninstall IE and then reboot and reinstall (make sure you got your OS disk handy). Then get the updates. Thats about all micro$ will let you do with IE.

Give your memory a check with a memtest boot cd just to be sure the corruption wasn't hardware related. Check for viruses and add/spyware that could of hyjacked your browser too. I like A Squared, Old Spybot, houscall.trendmicro.com and even the AVG anti-spyware is good to stick on, run and unistall.
