Display problem - XP & Lotus

Hello Folks

I have just set up a new computer and am having a problem with the display that I didn't get with my old setup.

Basically, when I close the Lotus Smartsuite (I know it's old but I use it) bar at the top of of the display I have a gap left where the bar was, and my windows will not maximise to fill it. When I restart the computer everything is back to normal.
This never happened on my old setup - the window automatically expanded to fill the space. I am still using XP and would appreciate if someone could help.
