Computer won't stand by or hibernate
Is it just me or does WinXP just naturally fail on its own. I did a recent re-install of the OS and all my programs and files and everything was working great. Then I installed a PCI device, now a couple of my programs won't work. The hibernate and stand by feature no long works so I have to shut my machine down completely if I'm away for any period of time. Just don't understand why Windows is so unpredictable. Thanks.

Methinks it's a driver conflict. Most likely an installation of a driver that wasn't signed for Windows XP. Never install outdated drivers or drivers not made for Windows XP, on Windows XP... that's probably the easiest way to mess up an installation.
No blames, though, what PCI Device did you install? |

if everything was fine before you installed your pci device, look for an updated driver on the manufacturers website and see if that cures the problem, if not uninstall the drivers then power down your pc and remove the device, then reboot, if everything works again, then find a diifferent pci device from a different manufacturer, that possibly has signed drivers.
