Can not load 'rdb.sys'

I thought I had some sites bookmarked that would teel you what a file was if you entered it in as a search. I couldn't really find any bookmarks.

My friends' Laptop get a error message that it can't load RDBSS.sys. I or he doesn't know what that file is. The limited search I did didn't turn anything up. No idea what he was doing last.

Anyone know what RDBSS.sys is or have some sites where I can look it up?

That's strange you couldn't find any info - Google "rdbss.sys" and look at the first link. I got 58,300 hits and there are some other pertinent links on the first page.

The search I did was the wrong file name. This is a sp4 install, so that M$ KB article concerning sp 3 doesn't apply here. Most of those 'hits' seem to apply to that.

I have the Laptop now and tried using MS Config with Diag. startup checked, but still nothing.

It's a 'stop' error screen after the ntoskrnl splash screen loads. "Unable to load device driver".
