Server 2003--tracking print jobs

I'm still learning the ropes on Server 2003. How can a find the event list (?) of print jobs which would indicate who has been printing to which printer? We've got some students you are sending numerous print jobs of garbage just to tie up the printer.

go into event viewer and look in the system folders on the server that is acting as the print server. for me since i only have one server it was on my domain controller.

it should tell ya who the user was that has sent the jobs to the printer.

if high priority people need to print and other users are clogging up the print queue with worthless crap you can set a higher priority for teachers to print. what will happen is when they send the print command to the printer it will bump theres to the top of the list and cause the lower priority print jobs to wait/halt till the higher priority user has finished printing its documents.

to do this you would need to setup another instance of the printer(s) you want with a higher priority on the printer server. next open up the properties for that printer, go to the advanced tab and change the priority to 99 (default is 1), next go to the security tab and on the everyone and non-domain computers group remove the check box for them to print to it, and then add the group for the users you want to be able to print to it (ie: Teachers Security group). finally go to each of those users stations and delete the old printer and attach them with to the new high priority printer.
