XP Repair

Good morning,
I went and did a new XP Repair and it is much better, but there is still a program that is trying to install and it is asking for a cd.
Program is Photo Gallery and it is looking for Photo Gallery (*.msi), it said it should be on a cd. I have no idea what this program is or where the cd is. When I cancel out of it , it gives me a 1706 error,no valid install pogram could be found for Photo Gallery.Windows installer can't continue .Once I ok on the window it tries to run, I keep cancel 2 move instal windows and then it gives me a Microsft .Net Framework error.So we get what is in #32 responce above this responce. Can someone help me either download it from a web site or tell me where it might be on a disc and finally,or how to get rid of it. Thanks Jim

Here is the system I have P 3.0 Intell, 800mhz, 2gig mem, sonata II case with stock power sup.Asus P5B-3, ATI Radeon x550, Have Maxtor 2oo gig PCI X 2 only one hooked up now. Can't continue or remove it from screen and I can't load anything until this is gone.

start>run>msconfig>startup tab
go through all the items that are set to startup and remove unneccessary items and see if that takes care of it.

have you looked in add/remove programs for this program to uninstall it?

Yep! I did go through the add/remove program and can't seem to find it. Why would it stop windows install,also it prevents me from shuting down the tipicalway by pushing the on/off botton. I have to hold in the botton for 4 sec to get it to shut down, is it part of windows set-up, ie. web photo or something like that? I'll do the msig/start up and see what I can remove. Thanks Jim

Well, I decided just go through each cd I had for Installed programs and explored each one, about 15. The last one was HP printer install cd. Found Photo Gallery setup and clicked on it and lord and behold it started to finish install and completed everything. Finally got everything finished and the repair is working wellnow. I just have to finish Windows updates and install Asus mobo drivers. Thanks to everyone for the help they have given me over the last few weeks. Jim

pS I have to send my 2 sata hd back to maxtor, when I go to plug the power in and turn on the computer it starts for a split sec and shuts off then you can't restart unless you flip the back switch off and then on again. Lucky it was the back up hd and not the main hd. I guess the ps that went bad or the mobo that pop'd fried the hd? Who knows, got rma already to get a new one.
