Vista partition question...

is there a way i can add a partition to my hard drive to put vista on without disrupting any of the stuff that is on there currently?

If you have a third party partitioning program like Partition Magic, then yes you can create another partition on that already loaded harddrive and do what you wish with it.

Quite simple but the point is that it is capable of making a new partition on an existing drive without harming any of the data on the rest of the drive.

ok so after i make a partition using that program i will be able to add vista and dual boot?

Yeah .. Vista will be able to detect your previous installation of XP and allow you to dual boot with it quite intuitively.

ok now is there anyway to default the selection to XP rather than vista? that way if i dont select an operating system before the 30 seconds it will automatically boot XP?

Control Panel > System & Maintenance > system > Advanced System Settings > Startup and recovery settings
And select earlier version of windows and set the time you want it to.
