The XP Pro x64 edition is meant for 64-bit (non-Itanium) processors. Altho the release is stable, you will have issues if your hardware has no compatible 64-bit drivers released. There are other issues as well - a rough read's here: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/download.mspx
The official page is here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/default.mspx As to whether it's recommended .. it depends on whether the current version of 32-bit XP you're running is falling short of your expectations. If yes and you need the x64 environment, then $56 is cheap enough. However, if you can hold off for a couple of months you could get Vista that will have better 64-bit support. |

I have the Pentium D which will be put in a new build if I can ever get it together. Thanks for the info. I surely hope XP will be around since I have a copy I purchased a couple years ago and have never used it - O.E.M version... thanks again
